Un cordial bon nochi, a pleasant evening to you all. As the Minister of Finance and Culture, it is my pleasure to address and extend a warm welcome  to you this evening.

As mentioned in my Opening Speech yesterday morning, it is imperative  that we emphasize  the significance of collaboration. In the domain of cultural heritage, collaboration plays a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the rich history and traditions of societies worldwide. By working together and through collective efforts individuals, organizations, and communities can share resources, expertise, and knowledge to safeguard cultural artifacts, monuments, and practices for future generations. Furthermore, collaborative endeavors serve to bridge cultural divides, foster mutual understanding, and celebrate the inherent diversity in human heritage.

By nurturing partnerships and cooperation, we ensure that our cultural heritage remains vibrant, accessible, and cherished by all.

It is important to acknowledge that our shared Caribbean heritage serves not only as a reflection of our past, but also as a guiding light for our future. By fostering collaboration among our institutions and communities, we possess the ability to preserve and celebrate the richness of our culture for generations to come.

Let us, therefore, commit ourselves to bridging gaps, building new connections, and embark on collaborative initiatives that honor our diverse heritage, thus strengthening the bonds that unite us.

In conclusion, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for gracing us with your presence and for your active participation in this Dutch Caribbean Heritage Week. As we continue our discussions and activities, let us seize this opportunity to bond in a more informal manner and engage in enjoyable camaraderie this evening, setting the stage for a vibrant and energetic continuation tomorrow.

And as Mr. Eppo van Nispen tot Sevenaer from Beeld en Geluid said, ‘Ban brasa otro’, Let us hug each other and continue enjoying the rest of the evening.
