Since the pandemic struck early this year, Scientology Volunteer Ministers from the Freewinds have been helping at all levels of society to protect Aruba from the coronavirus.  Their efforts did not go unnoticed, on the contrary they have been fully acknowledged by Aruba government officials.  

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, Volunteer Ministers from the Freewinds have been making sure the community has what it needs to stay safe. The team of volunteers is out every day sanitizing schools, churches, police stations, supermarkets, homes for the elderly, childcare facilities and even bars. Their purpose—to ensure the safety of the community and help Aruba get back to normal as rapidly as possible. 

This morning in a ceremony held at the Parliament Offices the Minister of Tourism, Public Health and Sports, Mr. Dangui Oduber and the Minister of Justice, Security and Integration, Mr. Andin Bikker officially thanked the Freewinds Volunteer Ministers for these actions.  

Ms. Susan Lora, The Deputy Port Captain of the Freewinds, representing the Freewinds Volunteer Ministers team, received a beautiful plaque from Gobierno Di Aruba and a letter from Mr. Oduber.

Present and also acknowledged for their work against Covid-19, were the Fire Department Training Coordinator and personnel, with whom the Freewinds volunteers have worked in partnership.

Mr. Oduber’s letter was very eloquent recognizing the impact the efforts of the Freewinds Volunteer Ministers have had on the island which he expressed in the following words: “As the Ministry of Tourism, Public Health and Sports, and on behalf of all the people of Aruba, I would like to say thank you for the incredible job the Scientology Volunteer Ministers of the Freewinds have been doing to assist in the fight against Covid-19.  

“At a time when Aruba needed assistance your crew moved out across the island distributing 96,500 Stay Well booklets to key locations making it easy for everyone to obtain vital information on how to protect themselves and others and prevent the spread of illness.

“As if this was not enough, the Volunteer Ministers teamed up with the Aruba Fire Department to provide sanitization of key locations such as police stations, schools, churches, government offices and more.  

“These efforts, which helped to bring the number of active cases of Covid-19 down to zero and keep it there, enabled Aruba to reopen its borders to tourism. And then when another outbreak of Corona virus struck the Volunteer Ministers responded immediately and resumed the sanitization efforts for the good of the community. 

“These activities are to be commended.

“For over 30 years the Freewinds has been a friend of Aruba and an integral part of our community. We very much appreciate all you do for our country.

Ms. Lora thanked the ministers and the government of Aruba by saying: “On behalf of the Captain, Officers and Crew of the Freewinds I’d like to thank you for this recognition. It has been an honor working together with the Department of Health and the Fire Department in this fight against Covid-19.  And it is a battle that we are winning.  

“We intend to continue this partnership, helping to make Aruba safe for all, because an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure and even though we are keeping our distance, we are all in this together. 

“As Freewinds Volunteer Ministers we know that something can be done about it and you can always count on our help, not just now, but whenever assistance is needed.”
