‘How to optimize the benefits and minimize the costs of labor migration in relation to sustainable socioeconomic development of the three countries?
Four major topics will be addressed:
1. Migration and sustainable socioeconomic development: (global and regional) evidence-based findings on the relationship between migration and sustainable socio-economic development. How to optimize the benefits and minimize the costs?
2. Opportunities and challenges of migration (management): myths and misconceptions; controversies, the liberal paradox; changing the narrative.
3. (Global) Trends in labor migration policies and refugee policies: lessons learned on effectiveness of policies & best practices.
4. Caribbean perspective on effective migration policies. How can we best govern migration to enhance socioeconomic development?
With keynote speakers from – among others – the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), Caribbean Migration Consultations (CMC), UNHCR, the Canadian Foreign Office, the University of Curaçao, the University of Sint Maarten and the Think To DO Institute.
