Op=Op in Aruba and Curaçao will remain open as usual
Bankruptcy request of Op=Op in the Netherlands is not applicable for Aruba and Curaçao locations
Today it was announced that bankruptcy was filed for Op=Op Netherlands. Op=Op Aruba and Curaçao are in no way affiliated with Op=Op Netherlands and has other shareholders; therefore this bankruptcy petition does not apply to the local branches.
The reason for the Dutch bankruptcy lies particularly in the case of excessively high rents that have been set for a long period and some of the 130 stores were not profitable. The expectation is that there will be a restart of the franchise on a smaller scale. In the coming months it will become clear how Op=Op will continue in the Netherlands; and in the meantime the stores will remain open.
It is important to emphasize that the situation for Op=Op in Aruba and Curacao will not change for the time being. The stores will continue to offer a complete range of very low-priced A-brands, and that will happen with the existing staff.
